8 Postures to Balance the 7 Emotions

Each session we will do a Qigong warm up, explore the Balance the Heart routine, discuss one move in detail and end with a sitting meditation.
This lesson includes a discussion of the Heart as the centre of our consciousness and the organ that integrates all of our emotions.
This class focusses on the Qigong posture, Natural Respiration and looks at the relationship between the Lungs, the emotions of grief and sadness and the process of valuing.
This class includes details on the third posture, Coiling Arms and it's relation to the Liver and the emotion of anger. It also includes a discussion of the virtues of compassion, gratitude and patience
This class provides details on the fourth posture, Raising, Lowering Palms, and its connection to thinking and worry as well its connection to digestion.
The fifth lesson includes a discusion of the emotions of anxiety, its relation to the digestion and the Heart and to the qualilty of confidence.
The discussion in this lesson centers on the posture, Integrating the Qi, it's relation to fear, the perception of risk, and how this emotional aspect is balanced through recognition of our inter-connection. with the world around us.
This second last class looks at the seventh posture, Extending the Palm, Holding the Knee and it's relationship to the emotion of fright.
The last lesson's discussion summarizes the sequence and the concept of Balance the Heart. It also includes the story of the one-armed swordsman who becomes the 2nd Patriarch of Zen Buddhism.
