Thank you for being part of this class. This first lesson take us through a warm up and teaches the first two postures of the Chen 18 Posture routine: Preparation & Buddha's Warrior Pounds the Mortar.

Weighting and Tai Chi structure is also covered in this first lesson.

This class includes a warm up and review of the first two postures. Then teaches the third posture, Lazy Tying of Coat. This Posture is distinctive of Chen syle Tai Chi with its open, rounded and solid structure.

This lesson also dicusses proper stepping in Chen Tai Chi.

The movements train 'fajin' or explosive power. To be properly executed requires solid structure, and an understanding of softness, rotational movement and integration of body and intent.

Kicking and striking with explosive power is central to the movements in this Posture. Stability prior to striking is an important detail in learning this move.
